Developing citizen governance through creative thinking
Information and communication technologies are now pervading public life at increasing speed. Participation can be increased to voice concerns and influence government decisions. Groups and communities are finding flexibility in how they organise their affairs and in self-govern themselves. Are there ways to better understand the dynamics of movements and help citizens engage more fully in matters that could concern them in the long term, for instance sustainability and economic growth?
In this workshop we explore the complexity of governance in the current world and offer a number of scenarios under which citizens can develop new forms of governance. We aim to draw a number of implications for the design or use of technology which could be taken forward.
